Equal Access to Reproductive Health for WomenBy Regina F. LarkCandidate for Lieutenant Governor | |||
This information is provided by the candidate |
Women and teenage girls must have access to, and education concerning, their reproductive health, regardless of age, economic, or social status. In order to do this, certain issues must prevail. First is safety. A very organized religious right seeks to prevent women and teenage girls from obtaining information at clinics throughout the state, regardless of whether these offices provide abortion services. The physical blocking of clinics and the undue harassment of those seeking health services must be taken seriously. Tougher laws on these hate crimes are necessary to create a modicum of control. I would also encourage private insurance companies to cover the cost of birth control devices; many of these companies currently do bnot offer such services. If even 15% of those covered by private insurance had access to birth control, the savings would be astronomical. |
