Ballot Statement for Ric Lohman Member, MidCoast Community Council I am a current member and former chair of the MCC. In the four years I have been on the Council I have consistently worked for three principles. The First is to preserve our unique coastside environment. The Second is to require environmental studies for all critical or controversial projects. The Third is to ensure that all Coastsiders have an opportunity to provide input on community issues. I have chaired the Planning and Zoning Committee for two years and have fought to limit variances, prevent special privilege deals, and block development on substandard lots. As Chair I have led the effort to launch our strategic plan to review and improve our Local Coastal Plan. I have built professional relationships with the County Planners, Commissioners, and Supervisors. We have moved from confrontation to cooperation with San Mateo County, and in the next four years it will be important to continue these relationships. I want to strengthen our LCP to remove over-development loopholes, remove ambiguities, and align our final buildout numbers with the realities of our overstressed transportation infrastructure. I ask you to support me again in this effort to strengthen our LCP by re-electing me to another term on the Council. |
