Political Philosophy for Deborah RuddockCandidate for |
I believe a council member is your public servant. I also believe that a council member should provide leadership based on his or her expanding store of detailed knowledge of community issues. Based on my two terms as council member and two terms as mayor, I also believe that your local elected representative must strive to balance the needs of individuals with the needs of the community. City Council Members should be the defenders of the public interest. In summary, good government requires the ability to listen to and balance many different interests, and identify and implement compromises which first serve the public interest. I believe that the health and quality of life of a community is determined by the quality of its public spaces, and I am committed to expanding and improving Half Moon Bay's public spaces. |
