Candidate for
Governing Board Member; Sequoia Union High School District

This information is provided by the candidate

I have a bachelor of science degree with honors in language arts from the University of Minnesota. Although I have not taught full time since my children were born, I did extensive substitute teaching while my husband served in Viet Nam.

I am a housewife and mother as well as an incumbent board member. My husband and I have lived here 27 years and have seven grown children all of whom attended and are graduates of the Sequoia Union High School District, four from San Carlos High School and three from Sequoia High School.

Our children attended Clifford Elementary School and McKinley Middle School in the Redwood City School District. During that time I was active at Clifford as a volunteer in the library, a room mother, and with Music for Minors. At McKinley I served as secretary of the PTA and edited the Newsette. At San Carlos High School I was a member of the parent club and chaired the sports award banquets for several years. At Sequoia High School I was PTSA President and served on the site council.

My husband and I are members of St. Charles Church in San Carlos where I have taught CCD and been a member of the choir. We have a granddaughter who will be entering the Sequoia Union High School District in the fall of 2000. I have coached girls' softball and boys' soccer in San Carlos.

I believe that my experience as a volunteer in the district, my experience as a board member, and my experience with the broader community helps me to be a thoughtful board member.
