Parental and Community Partnerships

By Mark Weinberger

Candidate for Governing Board Member; Jefferson School District

This information is provided by the candidate
In order for a student to achieve their full potential, bonds must be forged between parents and local community organizations and individuals.
Partnerships must be formed between students, teachers, parents and different segments of the community. A well-rounded education requires that all segments work together so a student may achieve optimum success.

I am a firm believer in pro-active parental involvement. A student's education doesn't end when the bell rings at the conclusion of the school day. Learning is a continuous, lifetime process. Professional educators take charge of young minds between approximately 8:00 am - 3:00 pm. However, there is so much more that can and must be done. Not only must parents be actively involved in their children's education but other segments of the community need to contribute as well.

Local law enforcement, the Chamber Of Commerce, senior citizens and many more all have relevant knowledge and experience to share with today's students. By drawing on the wealth of resources available in addition to those already being utilized, our students will be well on their way toward graduating with the skills and aptitude necessary to achieve their lifetime goals.
