Contra Costa County, CA | March 7, 2000 Election |
Curbing Growth To Cope With Its ImpactsBy Mary RochaCandidate for Supervisor; County of Contra Costa; District 5 | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Rocha has taken steps to curb growth.Mary Rocha's leadership has fostered regional cooperation and made East County take a hard look at the impacts caused by growth. In Antioch, she has -- implemented a cap limiting new home construction to 500 a year, -- required 2 jobs for each housing unit for any proposed development to encourage local jobs and reduce commuter traffic, and -- required developers to pay double what other cities charge for transportation improvements. Mary Rocha will support efforts to purchase land for open space especially in the Agricultural core using private and public funds. Because transportation improvements have not kept pace with development, our residents are wasting a lot of time in their cars. Mary Rocha addresses this issue in her transportation issue paper. |
