The Honorable Glenda Allen Hill of Fresno announces her bid for Superior Court Judge Seat #3 being vacated by the retirement of Judge John Fitch.
Glenda Allen Hill has been a Superior Court Commissioner for over 10 years. She is currently assigned to the downtown Courthouse where she has for the past 2 years presided over adult criminal cases, small claims and civil law and motion. Her prior assignment was Juvenile Court, in Southeast Fresno. At juvenile court she heard juvenile criminal matters, and cases involving the abuse and neglect of children. Commissioner Allen Hill is a strong advocate for children in our community, protecting them when necessary and holding them accountable for their delinquent behavior when needed. During the eight years she spent at Juvenile Court she was faced with an ever increasing population of violent juvenile offenders. She combated skyrocketing youth criminal activity by holding juvenile offenders accountable for their criminal behavior. She is an experienced judicial officer and has served as a judge in hundreds of jury and non-jury trials.
Commissioner Allen Hill is a proven and effective jurist. She has also been recognized for her community service. She works with the youth of Fresno as a Girl Scout Leader and mentor. She is a member of the board of directors of several local community organizations, including the Fresno Council on Child Abuse Prevention and a local substance abuse treatment program for women with infants. Commissioner Allen Hill volunteers her time in an after-school reading program to improve literacy skills for under-privileged youths.
Prior to becoming a Superior Court Commissioner, she was a Deputy District Attorney in both Fresno and Madera counties. She was known as a tough but fair prosecutor. Glenda Allen Hill served four years on active duty in the United States Air Force as a member of the Judge Advocate General Corp (JAG). Captain Allen Hill was a distinguished military lawyer. As a JAG officer she traveled the country to participate in military trials. She joined the military in 1983, just proir to her graduation from the University of Southern California Law School. She is also a 1980 graduate of the University of California at San Diego, where she obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology.
Commissioner Allen Hill is married to Ronald Hill, a ten year law enforcement veteran. Glenda and Ron have one child, Dayna, a fifth grader who was recognized by the Fresno Bee as a 1999 Academic All Star. |
