The Neighborhood Candidate

By R. Scott Durcanin

Candidate for Democratic Party Central Committee; Assembly District 13

This information is provided by the candidate
My goals are Registration, Education and Outreach.
Can I count on you?

My name is Scott Durcanin, and I am running for the Democratic Central Committee representing the 13th District.

I am running as the "neighborhood candidate". I believe that the core responsibility of the DCCC is "Registration, Education and Outreach", and I pledge to take these values seriously and make our Party stronger through them.

Registration As more people become registered voters, membership in the Democratic Party will grow. The Democratic Party represents the same core values that most San Franciscans hold dear, and I pledge to continue my efforts towards registering new voters.

Education I believe that a more educated voter is a more frequent voter. Towards this end, voter education and outreach will increase the number of Democratic voters in local and district elections, and I pledge to improve our use of the internet by making the web site bilingual. Big money & influence will have less impact in district elections, therefore the DCCC will be the tool the candidate uses to contact the community and we must be ready to respond.

Outreach It is vitally important that voters know that the Democratic Party shares their core values and concerns. Outreach, especially in communities of color, is vital to the future of the Democratic Party. I elected, I pledge to carry our message into communities of color and build a bridge to make us a stronger and more inclusive city.

I feel lucky and privileged to live in a city where the quality of a person's message far outweighs the color of their skin. We have a remarkably diverse population with exceptional talents, and it is the mission of the DCCC to discover the talent in these individuals and place them in public office where they can be most effective. Registration, Education and Outreach are the cornerstones of our bridge to communities of color and we should work towards making a bridge that will last.

Thank you for your support.
