Reforming EducationBy Tony FellowCandidate for Member of the State Assembly; District 57 | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Creative approach to reforming educationThe growing sophistication of our economy demands excellence in our schools. Yet one-third of all students drop out before graduation from high school. Many who do graduate can't fill out a job application or find China on a map. We need to invest more in students. It is deplorable that our state ranks 48th in the nation in the amount of money spent per student. We need to invest more in teachers. Teachers need more input into decisions regarding curriculum and standards for student performance. Parents should demand creative, dynamic, and challenging teachers. Students and teachers should demand state-of-the-art classrooms and learning environments that are safe. We need to provide more financial aid to college students. The California Faculty Association endorses Tony Fellow for Assembly. |
