Shortage of Physicians

By Rajendra M Ratnesar

Candidate for Member, Board of Hospital Directors; Eden Township Hospital District

This information is provided by the candidate
With the high cost of real estate, it has become difficult for young physicians to locate to this area.
At the present time, the medical staff at Eden has a significant number of physicians who are in the 50's and 60's. These physicians over the next few years would either retire or reduce the time they spend caring for patients. In view of this, it is obvious that new physicians would need to come into the area to fill this impending void. The cost of real estate is making it difficult for young physicians coming out of training to locate to this area. At the board level, plans have to be made to support or find means to help these physicians move into this area.
