Born U.K. 1928. Educated in the U.K. and Australia. Royal Air Force, Airborne Radar 1946-1948. London University, studied Electrical & Mechanical Engineering. Emigrated to E.Canada 1954. Married Ann 1956. Two children, both now living in W.Canada, 3 granddchildren. Technical Sales, Vandervell Bearings. UK, Strss Office, AVRO Aircraft, Toronto Canada. Assistant Commercial Mnager, Perkins Diesel, Canada. Parts Manager Eastern Canada, Rover North America. Parts Manager US. Rover. Parts & Service Manager, California & Nevada, Kaiser Jeep Corp. Founded Berens Associates Inc,1966, where we specialized in Four Wheel Drive Equipment & Industrial Winches, particularly hydraulic winches. Sold in 1992 and retired. Moved from Oakland to Orinda in 1974. have been active in Neighborhood Watch since 1989 when I organized a fire-watch near Grizzly Stables during the Oakland Hills fire, in case the prevailing wind reversed. Now Coordinate Neighborhood Watch, Upper El Toyonal with 9 Block Captains and 120 families. Was instrumental in getting the City of Orinda, EBMUD, and Contra Costa County to replace the old wooden rotted bridge on El Toyonal,(between Chapparal Place and Wildcat Canyon Rd.)with a Bailey Bridge allowing emergency vehicle access and personell & vehicle egress in an emergency. I presently ride Volunteer Bicycle Trail Patrol for the East Bay Regional Park District. I have worked in the Orinda Police Department as a volunteer. Have served on the Orinda Crime Prevention, and Disaster Preparedness committees, and currently serve on Fire Marshall Hoover's Orinda Fire Safe Citizen's committee. We have volunteered our recently earth filled pool as a CASEVAC (Casualty Evacuation) helicopter landing zone, to Orinda Moraga Fire District who have plotted its GPS location, a helicopter fly-by has been done. I am an inventor holding one U.S.Patent # 5454684, and have worked,and am working on, other inventions.
