Political Philosophy for Mary Rocha

When people ask me why I run for public office, I answer, "for the children." I want to improve the quality of life for all children and their families who live in our beautiful county. All my life I have been an advocate for quality child care programs, have worked for substance abuse prevention, domestic violence prevention, and have worked for children's health and dental care. Although I have been in public office for most of the past 25 years, I don't consider myself a "career politician." I am a woman of action and as your full-time supervisor, I won't hide from the problems we face, but will seek to find workable solutions. When home construction outpaced schools and roads, thus reducing our quality of life, I supported the citizen-sponosored Measure U, which states that homes can no longer be built without jobs, roads, and schools coming first. I am the only mayor who has taken aggressive measures to stop runaway growth and put people first. Child care is of great concern to me, as I know it is to families throughout our County. I have worked hard for better child care and am pleased to have had a child care facility in Antioch named for me. During my tenure, we have expanded child care at Antioch Unified School District sites. If the people of the 5th District elect me, I will continue to do as I have always done: work hard for the children and families of this county to improve the quality of their lives. |
