Candidate for
Director; San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District; Unexpired Short Term

I am a 35-year San Ramon Valley resident and a San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District Board member for over 12 years.

I am seeking a confirmation vote of my appointment to the Board of Directors of the San Ramon Valley Fire District.

I am an electrical engineer in the traffic control industry. I was first elected to the Board in 1985 and have been re-elected to that position 2 times. I had to resign my Board position a few years ago for a temporary business assignment out of state. After I returned, I was appointed to the Board to replace a Director who retired.

I have been on the Board during the Department's growth from three fire stations in 1985 to the present nine stations. Another new station is about to begin construction. All of this without a tax rate increase!

I believe in strong leadership. The District now has Paramedics on every first due fire engine and full paramedic transport to the hospital -- a service not provided by many other fire districts!

Under my leadership, the Fire District recently obtained an I.S.O. 2 insurance rating from the Insurance Services Office . This rating places the performance of the department in the upper 5% in the United States and results in a decrease in the insurance premiums paid by San Ramon Valley residents.

The District's computer aided dispatch center recently won worldwide certification for dispatch and pre-arrival instructions. This places the dispatch center in the top 7 in the world.

The San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District has become a Fire Department for other Departments in California and across the United States to model.

I hope to continue a positive leadership roll and to continue to keep the District out in front of all others!
