The challenges that face El Dorado County in the 21st century have been inherited form years of neglect. Our current growth patterns ignore our fragile resources and contribute to grid lock and congestion in our communities and on our highways. The quality of life in El Dorado County, that individuals so highly value, is in jeopardy if we don't take action now. My priorities as Supervisor will be careful planning to preserve and protect our quality of life, promoting tourism and agriculture, fully implementing Measure Y, improving county services to all citizens and providing better recreation opportunities for our children. My analysis of the county budget reveals a need for a reevaluation of priorities and the establishment of a more equitable balance between increasing salary expenditures in upper management and public services. I will follow through with a general plan that allows for growth within the limits of the infrastructure. I recognize that District 2 is a diverse district with varying concerns and needs. I will stay committed to monthly meeting with local focus groups, addressing and prioritizing community needs/concerns. I strongly believe we need to expand our economy and provide for more retail shopping opportunities, and target areas for employment centers. My goal as Supervisor is to establish productive lines of communication, using mediation if necessary, to develop trust and sound working relationships to solve local, as well as regional problems, moving forward to build an economic foundation for the County. I will work diligently to build a future for our County! |
