Our ocean water quality is key to healthy recreational use, protection of the marine environment and the well being or our businesses.The following actions are necessary to protect ocean waters: 1. The city should collaborate with the water district to implement a water conservation plan to eliminate excess irrigation watering that transports pollutants to the ocean. 2. Adopt a community wide campaign to stop the release of pollutants into storm drains. 3. Clean storm drain catch basins at least twice a year. 4. Complete diversion of non-rainy season runoff into the sewer system. 5. Clean city streets at least once a week. 6. Identify and elimnate the sources of pollution in Laguna Canyon Creek and Aliso Creek. 7. Enforce the city's water quality ordinance.
