A visionary council is needed to oversee responsible growth in East Orange. We need to be proactive to anticipate the needs of the community, including schools, libraries, recreation facilities and open space. The communities in East Orange are concerned about traffic congestion, overcrowding in schools, environmental issues and the danger of losing their rural environment. My position has always been that before new development occurs, the effect on established neighborhoods must be weighed in. The City of Orange needs to be proactive in deciding what we want as a community and then work toward that goal. We must revisit the East Orange General Plan (EOGP) This plan was completed in 1989 and doesn't reflect our current community sensibilities for increase open space and reduced residential and commercial development. Again, the city must be in the drivers seat when it comes to future expansion. Reopening and reviewing the EOGP will be one of my first priorities as a new council member. As a city councilwoman I will fight to preserve Barham Ranch and will work to expand our trail systems.
