Support and Attract BusinessBy Mike ClesceriCandidate for Member, City Council; City of Fullerton | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Retaining and attracting businesses is vital to the future of Fullerton's economic base.Fullerton has lost several businesses due to a number of reasons. From 1988-1998 Fullerton lost 22% of its sales tax base. Each time a business leaves, it takes with them jobs and money. Money that is important for Fullerton to pay for infrastructure, schools, parks, and maintaining well trained and compensated police officers and firefighters. I will oppose all efforts to raise taxes or fees on Fullerton residents. I will work to retain existing businesses in Fullerton by listening to the needs of our business owners and doing the very best to accomodate them. I will direct city staff to agressively advertise and solicit popular business establishments to move to Fullerton so our residents can take pride in shopping in Fullerton, instead of going to surrounding cities. I will work to seek agressive redevelopment of the Orangefair Mall and make it shopper friendly and pleasing to the eye. I will work with the Business Council to retain and seek new business developments to increase our financial base. |
