The City's sales tax base continues to need to be strengthened; we need to keep existing businesses and seek new business development.
- In 1999, I helped establish and serve on the Fullerton Business Council which works to retain existing businesses and aggressively seek new business development to increase City tax base.
- New businesses opened or in development process; HomeGrocer.com, Amerige Heights (a retail and home development project on former Hughes property), relocation of Albertson's headquarters to Fullerton, Burlington Coat Factory and several major tenants are negotiating at Orangefair Mall.
- A Fullerton marketing brochure has been developed, and the Council authorized a Business/Industry consulting group to help pursue business development.
- 20 new industrial sites have been filled providing 1700 new jobs.
- Sales tax revenue has increased 10% in the last year.
- Carefully monitored spedning so that there has been no tax increases for residents or businesses.
