THE SENSIBLE CHOICE FOR IRVINE CITY COUNCIL
My name is Alan Mannason and I want to be a member of your Irvine City Council. I am running on a common sense platform.
- I will contribute my entire City salary to the Irvine Police Advisory Council Benevolent Fund to set an example for every councilperson. This is common sense.
- I will not solicit or accept campaign funds from any individual or group. Council members need to represent all residents of Irvine, not just donors. This is common sense.
- I oppose the El Toro Airport and the Musick Jail Expansion. I support annexation of the base at El Toro. This is common sense.
- I oppose the proposed Center Line Project through residential neighborhoods. You know only too well that the noise cannot be mitigated. This is common sense.
- Personal agenda must not interfere with good leadership. The present City Council spends too much time not attending to our business. This is common sense.
- I support expansion of Senior Services north of Woodbridge. Taxes raised from different villages need to be directed back to those villages through the establishment of individual "Village Needs Committees" that can speak of issues and concerns with a stronger voice. I would be the focal point on the City Council. This is common sense.
- Our School District needs a long-term financial solution. We must continue to offer our expertise and assistance. This is common sense.
- I would like to see more Irvine police, firemen, teachers and City employees as our neighbors. Irvine should issue bonds to make home ownership more affordable for these valuable community members. This is common sense.
- I support reasonable residential and commercial development with less density. This is critical if we plan to maintain our quality of life. This is common sense.
- Council members should have no current or future conflicts of interest. I will not work for any Irvine company after my term on City Council. This is common sense.
I have lived in Irvine for 18 years. My daughter and her family moved to Irvine in 1978. I have two grandchildren that have lived here all of their lives. One of my grandchildren attended Irvine Public Schools (K-12) and is currently attending UCSD. Another grandchild is a junior at Woodbridge High School. I am a dedicated citizen that wants to assure Irvine remains a desirable place to live and work for current and future generations. This is common sense.
The Irvine City Council should not be guided by personal agenda or obligations, but by common sense.
