Bob Griego has served on the Sweetwater Board of Trustees for 8 years, 3 terms as President and 2 terms as Vice President. He has served the public for almost 25 years. He held a position as Deputy National Director of Jobs for Progress, Inc. A national job training and education program funded by the federal and state governments.He served as a Personnel, Administrative Assistant and Assistant City Manager for 13 years in the City of Whittier California. He moved to San Diego in 1989, to accept appointment to the County of San Diego as the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer he served for 8 years. In 1997 he began service as City Manager for the City of Irwindale California where he initiated over 100 Million in development and eliminated deficit spending, resulting in a balanced budget and reserve funds for public emergencies. In April 2000 he was appointed General Manager for the Otay Water District. This year the Governor Grey Davis appointed Bob to the State Mining and Geology to assure a local government perspective. Bob graduated from San Diego State University with BA in Education. He holds a Masters in Public Administration from UCLA ,1975. Bob has been married for 33 years, spouse is college graduate and Certified Public accountant. His three children have attended college, two are now working on graduate degrees at USC and Sacramento State University. His youngest daughter is attending Arizona State University. In Bob's family education has been a priority, this passion is continued in his role as a school board member. |
