Commitment to Kids!By Ann B. PierceCandidate for Board Member; Alpine Union School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
My past commitment reflects a true advocacy for students. I have the proven leadership and commitment our students and their parents deserve. I am without obligation, nor do I owe allegiance to any coalition. I am not running to further a political career. I do wish to continue my efforts on behalf of you and your children as a member of our local school board!I believe in: Accountability, High Standards and Local Control I believe all students should have a quality education, which challenges and enables them to achieve their potential. I believe that student success is dependent upon a partnership involving children, parents, teachers and the community. I promise to: Work with teachers and administration to align student learning with appropriate performance-based measures; while continuing my commitment to a curriculum which includes the arts. Creative thinking has been proven to be an integral component of critical thinking, a skill necessary for students of the new millennium. I will promote our district as a model of support services/community partnerships that work toward giving students the tools they will need to deal directly, honestly and confidently with peer and societal pressures. I will continue my efforts of the past two years to provide a local high school, and look forward to being a part of the exciting expansion of our district as we open our new, Early Childhood Education campus. |
