"Additionally, I am interested in exploring other programs that enhance choice to our families and recruits students into the District."
It is extremely important that our School District continue making the positive changes that improves the education potential of our children. I have and continue to support the "Success for All" reading program at the Santa Rosa Academic Academy and the new Arts Academy. Because of its popularity, I'm interested in promoting the extension of the "Success for All" program to a second campus and lobby teachers and staffs as a group to embrace it like their counterparts have at the Santa Rosa campus (80% of the staff at a campus have to agree to the program for its implementation). Current enrollment at the Santa Rosa campus is 720 students, far above the average established by the State Department of Education. A lessoning of this population would be helpful in the daily operations of this school be it in the classroom or on the playground. Additionally, I am interested in exploring other programs that enhance choice to our families and recruits students into the District (the Arts School has brought 30 new students into our system). This includes the creation of a campus similar to the Arts Academy that would specialize in math and sciences at a new or existing site, and the expansion of trade and technology programs at the High School for students whose desires are to move into jobs versus college after their graduation.
