Safe communities free citizens from fear or threat to their lives, health and property.

During my tenure as Councilmember and Mayor of the City of El Centro we launched a crime reduction program, we put additional police officers on the streets, we provided funding for training and proper equipment and we implemented policies that reduced the crime rate. These programs brought tranquility to neighborhoods through "Community Policing" and "Neighborhood Watch." Thanks to the collective efforts of the citizens, the city and law enforcement, we saw a drop in crime. These policies have had a positive effect on the quality of life for the citizens of El Centro. And all of California's communities deserve the same.

Gun Safety: I believe in the Constitution and the Second Amendment. I also believe we must do everything possible to keep guns out of the hands of criminals and children. If we want safe streets, schools and neighborhoods, we must enforce existing laws to reduce criminal use of firearms. Additionally, any legislation that addresses potential prevention of firearms falling fatally into the hands of our children must be given serious consideration.

Domestic Violence: I support strict law enforcement, speedy trials and restitution for the victims of domestic violence.
