I have lived in Rosemead for 48 years. I attended Rosemead School District Schools and Rosemead High School. My husband, Randy, and I have lived in our home since 1975. Our children attended the same schools as their mother. Heather, Damon and Blaine have already graduated from RHS. Aaron is in his senior year at RHS and Cameron is an eighth grader at Muscatel Middle School. Our grandson, Kyle age 4, will start kindergarten at Janson Elementary next September. I have been an active participant in PTA since 1970. I have held most of the positions on PTA Executive Boards and have received many awards for my efforts. I feel that my involvement in the community has given me a better understanding of our schools. Our diverse population has led to many challenges for our schools, including the high percentage of ELD students. The high school exit exam is of great concern to me. Another issue facing the district is state and federal mandated programs that are not being fully funded. For example, the Special Education program is suppose to be funded at 40% but is currently receiving funding of approximately 16%. My home and my heart are in the San Gabriel Valley. I would be proud to serve you and your children as a member of the El Monte Union High School District Board of Trustees. Please consider casting your vote for me to insure that Rosemead will continue to have a voice on the El Monte Union High School District Board. Community Involvement
