Bond Implementation

By Al Mayberry

Candidate for Governing Board Member; Tamalpais Union High School District

This information is provided by the candidate
My opponents and critics actually criticise me for putting student well being and eductional quality as a higher priority than bond implementation. The bond implementation is in very capable hands with Arvo Tukonen, his hand picked staff and $20 million in total oversite. Arvo is extremely well qualified to run 'modernization' (as the bond implementation is called). Arvo was hired expressly for this job and has already implemented a similar bond in another California district. I have spent a good bit of time with Arvo explaining his approach and have confidence in his plan and process. My experience in running efficient, frugal non-profits gives me an excellent perspective on how to cut waste and use tax dollars wisely. My strong background in construction and teaching makes me uniquely qualified to make the decisions Arvo will birng to the board during bond implementation. This allows me to retain focus on the well being of the students and their receiving a top quality state-of-the-art education.

All three of Dorothy's and my opponents say over and over that implementing the new school bond is their highest priority. I say the school bond is very important but nothing is more important than the well being of the children and the quality of their education. It would be scary to have board members who did not have the children's welfare and education as number one -- the bond can be number two and be very carefully watched.
