Smart Voter Political Philosophy for David Esparza, Jr.

Candidate for
Member of City Council; City of Santa Barbara

This information is provided by the candidate

The residents of Santa Barbara have had enough. They are distraught at the continuing deterioration of their quality of life, their sense of community and the take-over of their city by thousands of tourists. It is time, they say, that we put residents first.
By giving this City back to its neighborhoods and returning to District Elections, Santa Barbara will finally be able to put its focus back on its neighborhoods.
By expanding the City's affordable housing programs and confronting this issue with determination and vigor, Santa Barbara will finally be able to defeat one of its most serious issues and one of the leading causes for our deteriorating sense of community and familiarity.
By treating the environment with the care and sensitivity it truly needs, Santa Barbara will finally have beaches, creeks and air that are clean for its residents now and in the future.
These issues I speak of are not new. The only difference between now and before is that these problems have only gotten worse. It is time for new leadership on the City Council. It is time to put residents first.
