My Reasons for RunningBy Mark OlbertCandidate for Board Member; San Carlos School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
I want to join the Board so San Carlos can develop the kind of outstanding K thru 8 school system it deserves. We have a lot to be proud of in our schools, but we cannot afford to be complacent. More importantly, we are not leveraging our strengths to become the truly outstanding elementary school district we can be. To take the District to the next level, we need a Board that takes a more active leadership role, and does a better job of engaging the community on key educational issues. We are fortunate to have a talented teaching staff, a forward-thinking and hard-working superintendent, and a community that both values and supports high-quality public education. Those are our strengths; and they are sufficient to forge a much better educational system than we currently have. The resources and support are there. What we need is stronger and more focused leadership from the Board. I want to join the Board to help it make the needed transition to a more active role, so that San Carlos can have the kind of K thru 8 school system it deserves. |
