Montgomery Road Widening ProjectBy Kathy P. (Pohl) WagnerCandidate for Trustee; Township of Symmes | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
I plan to continue ALL efforts to widen Montgomery Road. I have been working on this project since 1998.I plan to continue all efforts to widen Montgomery Road. To advance this project, a Steering Committee was formed. It includes: the private and public sector, the Warren and Hamilton County Engineers, the Ohio Department of Transportation, the Cities of Montgomery and Loveland, and the Townships of Deerfield, Sycamore and Symmes. For the past year, I have been meeting regularly with the representatives from all political entities, discussing what we need to do as a group to receive TierI Status from the Transportation Review Advisory Committee. The TRAC group allocates the money for road improvements in the State of Ohio. All of our data needs to be given to the TRAC this October and we will receive the decision on our status in early December. Tier I status means that the State of Ohio will give us the money needed to widen Montgomery Road. The road will be widened from Weller Road north to Foster's Bridge in Warren County. The widening and improving of the Interstate 275 intersection is also included in this project. The Montgomery Road Project includes grassy medians in the area from Kemper Road to beyond Enyart Road. This is being done to preserve the character of the neighborhoods. The total cost of the road widening project is $50 million plus. Symmes, Sycamore and Deerfield Townships, the Cities of Montgomery and Loveland, and, the Counties of Warren and Hamilton have contributed money for the entire engineering study. We are in the process of hiring the Engineering Firm for the project. The Environmental Study was completed a couple of years ago. |
