Meaning of Voting Yes/No

A YES vote of this measure means:

A "yes vote is a vote to approve abolishing trustee areas for school elections and elect all board members at large.

A NO vote of this measure means:

A "no" vote is a vote not to approve abolishing trustee areas for school elections and elect all board members at large.

A majority of the governing board of the Gilroy Unified School District approved a resolution to abolish school board elections by trustee areas in favor of elections at large. After receiving the resolutions, the Santa Clara County Committee on School District Organization recommended to the Superintendent of Schools to abolish trustee areas in an election and implement elections at large. The Superintendent of Schools has provided notice of the transfer in accordance with state law.

A "yes vote is a vote to approve abolishing trustee areas for school elections and elect all board members at large.

A "no" vote is a vote not to approve abolishing trustee areas for school elections and elect all board members at large.

The present system was implemented as a condition of unification in 1966 when Gilroy was divided into district urban/agricultural areas with 2 country and 4 city elementary schools feeding into one junior high and one senior high school, and two alternative high schools has created an imbalance between country and city representation.

To ensure the success of all all students in the District, Trustees must work as a team to represent all students of the District, not just those living within their residential boundaries.

A yes vote will allow voters to vote for the most qualified candidate to represent the best interest of all GUSD students.
