Political Philosophy for Ryan K Chamberlain, II
Candidate for |
I call it "Ryan's Law of Political Positioning": You are not a conservative unless you have someTHING to conserve. You are not a liberal unless you know someONE who needs to be liberated. I apply this to my outlook on San Francisco politics. Nowhere else in America do you have such a successful population. Collectively, businesses start here and inventions are borne here. Individually, the cost of living here alone requires a healthy income, to which we add an amazing per capita number of luxury cars, nice restaurants and lavish vacations. San Franciscans should be entirely wary of government responsibility and fiscal policy, and embrace Republican positions toward such. However, here in San Francisco we also live among the homeless, the unemployed, immigrants and minorities, drug casualities, unplanned pregnancies, homosexual communities and other groups who have traditionally fought for their dignity. We are not our countrymen in Iowa, for instance, who often take cold-shoulder conservative positions to these issues with virtually NO first-hand experience with their presence. This gives SF Republicans a unique opportunity to address these groups' issues and problems armed with true and unbiased knowledge, and apply our logic and intellect toward solving them in an inclusive and considerate manner. We are Urban Republicans. There is a difference. |
