I believe the San Francisco Green Party needs to develop a comprehensive and aggressive voter registration and voter outreach plan to grow and diversify the Party and better involve its existing members. My major issues include increasing the Green Party's work on issues affecting women and other disenfranchised populations including seniors, the homeless, and minority and immigrant populations. I plan to push the Green Party to develop a comprehensive environmental justice agenda. I intend to work hard to diversify the Party to include higher numbers of women, African Americans, Latinos, Asian Americans, gays and lesbians and immigrant communities. Along those same lines, I will help the Party recruit and run more women and people of color for elected office.

I'm excited by the Green Party's many successes over the last couple of years -- the election of two Greens to public office; the excellent showing by Medea Benjamin in the first citywide campaign run by a Green Party candidate; and the incredibly successful showing -- to date -- of Instant Run-off Voting slated for consideration in the March 2002 election. I see the Green Party carving out a place for itself at the table with progressive policy makers in San Francisco and finally being recognized for its ability to organize and speak to the issues that progressive people care about. If elected to the County Council, I would be proud to help further develop the Green Party into a local force for social change and one of the city's strongest advocates for progressive policy reform.
