The Issues

Education/youth

Negotiated doubling the developer fees to benefit the Alameda schools. Negotiated new transit routes to serve our schools. Redirected additional budget funding to parks, library and trees.

Seniors

Negotiated to acquire Mastic Senior Center to assure its continued existence. Advocated successfully for increased Para transit funding. Advocated successfully for the creation of the Alameda Public Transit Committee and Transportation Commission.

Business Development

Successfully attracted quality retail development, such as Trader Joe's. Attracting retail ensures local jobs and a solid tax base for Alameda.

Preserving Neighborhood Quality

Negotiated to keep utility structures off of Alameda beaches.

Advocated successfully for the funding for the restoration and retrofitting of the Carnegie Library building and will advocated for the building to become a community center and museum.

Successfully brought more AC Transit bus routes to the island to fight increased traffic congestion.
