Candidate for
Board Member; Norris School District

I'm a thirteen year member of the Norris School Board, having served 5 years as Board President. During my tenure on the board, we have taken action to prepare the district for the rapid growth we are now experienceing. We've formed a Community Facilities District to raise money for school construction, and purchased 3 school sites in anticipation of growth to our community.

During my years on the Board, I've been instrumental in the opening of new libraries on all campuses, modernization of the Norris Elementary School, integration of computer technology in all classrooms, and the construction and opening of the Wm. B. Bimat Elementary School.

I've been committed to hiring the best qualified teachers and staff for our schools, and have worked hard to provide a positive working environment for our staff by having safe schools, and devoting as much as our budget as possible to needs in the classroom.

I've had 2 children that attended Norris schools from Kindergarten to 8th grade, and I have a 6th grade student now attending the middle school.

My wife Susan and I are natives of Bakersfield, and chose to live in the Norris District for the quality of education our children would receive. I've been very proud to have served on the Board of Trustees for 13 years, and look forward to continuing representing you in preserving the excellence of education that our children enjoy.
