Increase services

By James H. "Eric" Freedner

Candidate for Councilmember; Proposed City of San Fernando Valley; District 7

This information is provided by the candidate
Because of the widespread dissatisfaction with the level of Los Angeles city services, I would work speedily to have roads upgraded, broken sidewalks repaired and sidewalk corner curbs made handicap-accessible per federal guidelines. I also support public works such as underground storm water drainage and lighting districts. While in the future I would like to see the new city provide no-cost street lighting set-up to all its residents, I realize that this may be a long-term goal, given the present finances of the city.

I would like to see an end to landfills--there is no room for them in the Valley any longer--to be replaced by environmentally-safe incinerators which would handle the Valley's own waste. This would, of course, be in tandom with recycling efforts. I do not favor hauling and dumping of Valley trash to another community (as this only takes the problem elsewhere) unless that is absolutely the only way to handle trash.
