Arguments For Measure O |
In 1978 the residents of the Kentfield Fire Protection District, by an
overwhelming majority, approved Measure H, allowing the Fire
District to assess a special tax not to exceed 6 cents per square
foot of improved floor area, as defined on the Marin County
Assessor's roles, for each improved parcel. Currently, 3 cents is
being utilized.
In 1980 Proposition 4, a statewide initiative, was passed which limits the amount of revenues local government can collect without local voter approval. Although the residents of Kentfield have given their approval for up to 6 cents of special assessment, Measure O is necessary to continue the use of this assessment.
