Ballot Statement of Bert HackBy Bert HackCandidate for Council Member; City of Laguna Woods | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
A 10 year resident of Leisure World, former First V.P. of United Laguna Hills Mutual and Golden Rain Foundation. I was a member of the Steering Committee that opposed Measure A which mandated an airport at El Toro. I was a co-founder of Taxpayers For Responsible Planning (T.R.P.), the grassroots organization that opposed the airport. I helped draft and qualify the anti-airport initiatives (Measures "S", "F" and "W") and have led the fight against the airport. I was active in the formation of Laguna Woods and helped set the parameters for the formation of the City. I was elected to the first City Council and four months later was elected mayor. I am currently Mayor Pro Tem. I am the City's representative to El Toro Reuse Planning Authority (ETRPA), the organization that continues to lead the fight against the airport. I also sit on the Orange County Transit Corridor Authority as the City's representative. I have testified in opposition to the airport: before the Orange County Supervisors; our State Assembly; the F.A.A., the Navy and the Department of Defense. I sit on the Anti-Airport Coordinating Committee which sets policy for the public groups which oppose the airport. I am a leader in the City's fight for the removal of the Avigation Easements that limit flights over Laguna Woods. Help me finish the fight against the airport. |
