"It makes sense to have a school board member with children currently enrolled in our school district." We need school board members who play an "active" roll in our schools. If elected I will make every effort to attend "Acadedmic Award" assemblies within our schools. Our students need to know that their school board recognizes their academic efforts! As your school board member, I will improve district relations within the community we serve by asking our schools to "host" school board meetings throughout the year. I will work to have our school board meetings televised. We must improve internet access in our schools. Each school site will create an interactive website so that our community can simply "click" and see what their neighborhood schools are doing. Parents can correspond with their child's teacher and review homework assignments if necessary. Each school site shall strive to become a "California Distinguished School". It will require that each school develop a plan that will include parents, students, teachers, district officials, and community members to help achieve this goal. By working together, we will make a difference in our schools! We must continue be find creative ways to seek funding in order to build school's within our community. Setting land aside for future school sites just isn't enough! We must work closely with the city to find other ways to fund new schools. |
