I believe in our public schools and I believe I can make our schools better. I believe I can bring a new perspective for change and improvement. We are faced with many different issues in the next 4 years, budget cuts, a new high school, Coyote valley growth, state test scores, and high school exit exams are only a few of the challenges. Communication, trust and accountabilty are all concerns that the Board will need to address. I hope you will let me be a part of the decision making process. I believe I have experience and understanding of the system to improve it. I believe our community wants a school system it can be proud of. The role of a board member is to provide philosophy, goals and vision, to oversee the operations of the district, to communicate needs, to act as a change agent, when necessary, and to provide a framework for the highest possible student learning and achievement. Decisions are based upon the best interest of students. I believe I serve on behalf of the children of the community. I believe I accept the responsiblity to ensure the children receive the best public educaion possible. As a board member, if I need to ask uncomfortable questions, I will. If I have to exert discipline on management, I will. I do not want to be a board member who is a rubber stamp. It is critical to ask tough questions and to not accept recommendations at face value. Restort trust and respect for all is my top priority. Without these basic foundations, we cannot move forward. We have to communicate. I believe parents and staff have been shut out of the decision making process. We have to restore trust, too many people feel disenfranchised from the system. I want a district committed to kids, to the people who work for the district and to the community our school serve. We have to be accountable. We have to work together to increase student achievment. |
