Full Biography for Clyde L. Fuller, Jr.
Candidate for |
||||
|
Clyde Fuller is a candidate for the San Diego Unified School District Board of Trustees because he wants to end the personal rancor on the school board, and re-focus the board on what ought to be its real priority # the education of our children.
Clyde Fuller is a devoted husband and father of two young daughters who attend San Diego City Schools. He is a former United States Naval officer and FBI agent. After 27 years working in the FBI, Clyde retired to devote himself to his family, including his daughters' education.
Clyde Fuller's commitment to City Schools runs deep. He has been elected by his fellow parents to serve on the Governance Site Councils for Pacific Beach Elementary School, Pacific Beach Middle School, and the School for Creative and Performing Arts in Paradise Hills. He serves on the San Diego City Schools Parent Congress and the Special Education Task Force. He is a volunteer reader at several schools, and is currently spearheading the effort to obtain funding for a girls' softball field at Pacific Beach Elementary School.
Clyde Fuller is willing to challenge the status quo. In 1999, he successfully contested the state's special education system when the school district dropped his daughter's special education program. As a result of his efforts, the school district has since created a new, much more comprehensive program to meet the needs of students with similar disabilities.
Clyde Fuller is a dedicated community volunteer. He has chaired the Pacific Beach Beachfest -- a nonalcoholic, family-oriented event -- since its inception four years ago. He is also the 2002 chair of the National Lifeguard Championships to be held in San Diego (which he also chaired in 2000), and was honored as "Citizen of the Year" by the San Diego Lifeguard Service in 2000.
Clyde Fuller is married to Chris Fuller, who is actively involved in the community, serving on the Pacific Beach Community Planning Group. Clyde was born in Baytown, Texas in 1947, and graduated from Baylor University. He is a 30-year resident of San Diego. |
