Campaign PlatformBy Royce P MooreCandidate for Board Member; Escondido Union School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
I am prepared to devote the time and energy over the next four years as a member of your EUSD Board of Education. The role of a School Board member is to make policy and employ an effective superintendent to conduct the business of running a school district. EUSD has been able to attract an outstanding superintendent and, if elected, I will do everything in my power to keep him in our school district. Institutions as large as EUSD face many challenges and problems. These challenges can never be properly addressed effectively unless staff and parent morale are positive. If elected, I will do all that I possibly can to help establish and maintain a positive climate in the EUSD. Board members are the gatekeepers for public funds. If elected, I will be very frugal in seeing that public funds are spent in the most effective way possible. I believe that the students and teachers in the classrooms should be the recipients of the majority of all funds received. The only reason for the existence of a school district is to properly educate the students that live and attend school in the district. The key factor in accomplishing this task is having the best teachers possible in every classroom. If elected, I will do everything I possibly can to help teachers do their jobs in the classroom. This would include all the necessary books, materials and inservice training. The biggest challenge facing EUSD is housing students to meet the spiraling growth in Escondido. To help meet this need a school board must constantly be looking for property that could potentially become a future school site. If elected, I will make sure that the district is continually looking for future school sites. I will also be continually looking for local, state and federal assistance that might potentially help our district construct additional educational facilities. I am prepared to devote the time and energy over the next four years as a member of your EUSD Board of Education to achieve these goals. |
