This information is provided by the candidate |
A better sense of the candidate's background and stand.Sean's background makes him uniquely qualified to serve as a Superior Court judge. As a Deputy City Attorney Sean represents and defends the City and County of San Francisco including the Mayor, the Board of Supervisors, all Department Heads and City agencies during litigation; as a Deputy Public Defender Sean worked in the trenches of the criminal courts protecting the Constitution and defending San Francisco's poor; and as General Counsel to the San Francisco Police Officers' Association Sean represented and protected the interests of San Francisco Police Officers. Sean has tried both civil and criminal cases in state and federal court. Sean is the only candidate whose experience spans all corners of the justice system. The breadth and depth of Sean's experience and commitment set him apart from his opponents. He has tried twice the cases of both of his opponents combined. He has handled criminal cases from petty thefts to three-strikes to homicides. As a civil litigator, he has handled cases ranging from personal injury to wrongful deaths to federal civil rights litigation. He has represented the interests of both juvenile and adult San Franciscans. His unique legal background puts him in a position to balance from a hands-on perspective the competing interests of both governmental interests and individual freedoms. Neither of his opponents can make these claims. Sean's outstanding trial skills, tireless work ethic, and reputation for integrity and fairness have already earned him the early endorsements of State Senator John Burton, Sheriff Michael Hennessey, City Attorney Louise Renne, District Attorney Terence Hallinan, Supervisors Matt Gonzalez, Gavin Newsom, Tony Hall, Aaron Peskin and Gerardo Sandoval, Former Public Defender and P.U.C Commissioner Jeff Brown, Golden Gate Law School Dean Peter Keane, Hon. Jack Berman, Hon. Lucy McCabe, Hon. Katherine Feinstein, Hon. Robert Dondero, Hon. Wallace Douglass, Hon. Richard Kramer, Hon. Pat Mahoney, Hon. James McBride, Former Police Commission President and Iran-Contra Prosecutor John Keker, Police Commissioner Wayne Friday and Executive Director TNDC Brother Kelly Cullen* as well as several SF clubs. |
