Candidate for
Board Member; Peninsula Health Care District

This information is provided by the candidate

I have lived mst of my life in the San Mateo County area since my graduation from Stanford University. I worked at Stanford School of Medicine as a research/clinical volunteer. I majored in pre-medicine, but decided to pursue a business/law career instead. I hold an MBA and law degree, and will complete a PhD in public administration next year. I am passionately committed to public service. I wish to provide a unique, experienced perspective to this board.

I want to serve as a public servant for many reasons:

[1] I am passionate about our citizens here in the District and I want to ensure that they receive the best medical care. With a district that receives your tax monies, the Board members should be accountable and "open" to all public inquiries and provide information when asked.

[2] I am a strong believer in ensuring that the Peninsula Board can conduct an open negotiation forum, using County repository of personnel and other ample resources to ensure that the Board has a fair and equitable negotiating position. Why can't our Board have one of its members sit at the table with the health care provider Board--Mills Peninsula.

[3] I want to help with the design and construction of a state of the art hospital, with excellent patient waiting areas, ample parking spaces, ER and trauma care rooms, more nurses RNs and MDs. We can recruit doctors and administrators, but are they willing to live here? We need to work closely with the community colleges to ensure that we train more nurses.

[3] As a Lions Club member 4C4 GG, I have ample experience in the Board room. I am also a Finance Resource Director of California Health Initiatives, a non-profit group that targets poor, indigent county residents get proper health care. I served in the capacity as advisor for procurement and funding.

[4] I am a past Chamber of Commerce president.I currently serve as a member with several local chambers. With my extensive business background, I will ensure neutrality and fairness in my dealing with all entities and parties. I want this board to reflect the District's desire for equity, a new hospital, and well spent taxpayer monies.

[5] I am a Skyline College advisor to the International Studies program, assisting the council in developing courses that will expand and improve the learning experiences of Skyline's diverse student body. With my experience in higher education, I will ensure that future RNs and MDs are recruited and trained within our District. New leadership is needed to instill motivated students to enter the medical and health fields.

[6] Better Business Bureau member started 1991. Current member. I have been a finance manager and businessman/owner. I understand the need to maximize income and minimize costs. I will ensure that our taxpayer monies are well spent.

Thank you.
