Protection and restoration of the natural environment is my highest priority. Restricting access on newly acquired lands until a Resource, Use, and Management Plan can be developed that allows for ecologically sensitive public enjoyment and education is essential. Continual monitoring of existing uses on open preserves is necessary to assure resource protection, with sensible access to responsible user groups. It is paramount that we remain good land stewards for this and future generations.

As a MROSD board member, I have taken a leadership role towards coastal expansion. I am one of three MROSD board members on the Coastal Annexation Ad Hoc Committee, and spend much of my time meeting with the Pescadero, Half Moon Bay, Loma Mar, and Skyline communities. I believe a major reason for my appointment to the MROSD board two years ago was the recognition that I would be able to bridge the concerns of the coastal residents and the district. As the only director who has lived surrounded by district lands, I have been involved, as a resident, with the growth and planning of the district dating back to 1976. Having seen the benefits the district has brought to the foothills, I can address the concerns and apprehensions of coast side residents by sharing my experiences.
