Smart Voter Official Statement for Lola Thompson

Candidate for
Board Member; Peninsula Health Care District

This is a copy of information submitted to elections officials by the candidate

LOLA THOMPSON

Occupation: Registered Nurse

Education and Qualifications:

Health care is my chosen profession and I have been a practicing Registered Nurse in a hospital setting in this community for over 20 years. I've been a bedside nurse, health educator, and hospital administrator at both public and private hospitals.

I want to promote the health of our entire community by serving on the Peninsula Healthcare District Board.

I fully appreciate the issues facing the District. I have no conflicts of interest and intend to be part of a team that provides a vision for the future.

State mandated seismic standards require replacement of the Peninsula Hospital facility by 2013. The Peninsula Healthcare District has an obligation to maintain acute care access in our community. We deserve new, state-of-the-art, seismically safe facilities. The hospital must be built and the project must begin soon. I am fully committed to working for the community's best interest to see that this happens.

My recent professional responsibilities included coordinating clinical planning to build new San Mateo County Hospital and Clinics. My experiences in hospital and nursing administration required leadership in planning, budgeting, implementing and monitoring patient care.

I want to serve my community by using my skills in this Board position.

I respectfully ask for your vote on November 5.

/s/ Lola Thompson
