PHILIP J. WEISE

Occupation: Incumbent

Education and Qualifications:

In the ten years that I have been active in our schools there has been improvement, in test scores, educational environment, attendance and graduation rates. This success has been made possible by many people, service organizations, businesses, volunteers, parents, teachers, classified staff, administrators, city, county and state officials, working together to improve our schools.

As a school board member I have, and will continue, to support community involvement in decisions about the future of our schools. This input will be particularly important in the coming years as we, along with other school districts, grapple with decreasing resources in the current economy.

Having a daughter in our schools gives me a parent's perspective on the needs of our District.

This year I worked closely with Senator Speier on legislation to limit the weight of kid's backpacks by reducing textbook weight.

My experience includes 6 years on the school board, 4 years on the school district's personnel commission, 3 years with the "Families on Track" board, plus various other community organizations.

If re-elected I will continue to represent the needs of our community to the best of my ability. I ask your support in keeping a parent's voice on the school board.

/s/ Philip J. Weise
