Answer from Jean Siebenaler:

Countywide cooperation is essential to our future. Mass transit, emergency management, minority inclusion, environmental cleanliness, a skilled workforce, and a healthy cultural atmosphere are issued that transcend jurisdictional and political boundaries. We must erase the divisive rhetoric and move forward on these issues. If we succeed, we will again be a world-class destination for businesses, travelers, and our own grown children. If we fail, we will continue to see their numbers decline.

Answer from Phil Heimlich:

To keep taxes and spending under control, I will use outside analysts to do performance reviews of all county departments and proposed tax levies. The analysts can determine where waste is occurring and how to improve the quality of services provided by the County. I also advocate allowing private companies to compete with the government to give taxpayers better delivery of services for less money.
