Campaign HandoutBy Marc BeiqueCandidate for Director; Monterey Peninsula Water Management District; Division 3 | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Brief Overview of Marc Beique's PlatformDear Friends and Neighbors: I am running because we need to solve our water problems. Last November we voted 2-1 to dissolve the District, but the State won't let us do this. With your support, I intend to honor your vote with the following actions: + Support Managed Growth: Our water supply projects should reflect the planning needs of our communities. Our cities and counties have decided how much water we need for schools, affordable housing, shops, restaurants and industry. The water district should provide enough water for everyone by meeting these planning goals. + Support the Coastal Water Project: I support the Coastal Water Project, the large "Plan B" desalination plant proposed at Moss Landing by California American Water Company. It can be a regional water solution. Working with our Monterey County neighbors, we can solve our water problems and share costs. This project meets the National Marine Sanctuary policies that promote a regional solution for desalination plants. + Maintain Environmental Balance: We've done a great job in conserving water and preserving the Carmel River. Let's balance these environmental achievements with water for our needs. + Maximize Voter Participation: If elected, I will try to reschedule the water district elections from "off" years to the years with presidential elections so more voters participate. This will help promote democratic majority rule. Won't you please help me get us more water? I will not waste your money. Thank you for your consideration--and your VOTE! |
