Candidate StatementBy Dan VillaCandidate for Governing Board Member; Monterey County Board of Education; Trustee Area 2 | |

Our public school children require strong advocacyMy guiding principle has always been to work and make decisions that are in the best interest of students. Although this may seem an obvious statement to most of us, it is surprising how often self-interest and group interests can over shadow this basic premise. It is important to have a trustee who can work with all groups in our community and still keep the focus on the needs of the children. That is one of my strengths. Our public schools are now under great pressure to perform and be held accountable. The public should expect no less from its school board members. Understanding the many complicated issues of funding and programs is part of the work. Making the proper decisions that will provide for a better educational program and a better future for our students, your children, is what is important. My experience on other boards over the past 20 years has well prepared me to meet these demands. Children in Monterey County require stronger advocacy, now more than ever, so that they receive the best possible public education. If I am elected as a Trustee of the Monterey County Board of Education, I would be that advocate. Thank you for your consideration. |
