Affordable Housing / Work Force HousingBy John ManiCandidate for Member, City Council; City of Novato | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Affordable Housing is essential to Novato's economic vitality and quality of life.Affordable - Work Force housing promotes the economic vitality of the community. Workers who can live and work in close proximity have no need to commute. This lessens traffic and lowers the cost of living for the worker. More tax dollars will be spent locally helping the city's revenue stream. New developments, commercial, retail, and new homes must have impact fees sufficient to provide affordable housing. Using some of these funds as "mini grants" for homeowners to develop accessory rental units on their existing properties should be implemented. Lower cost housing for seniors, the disabled, and first time home buyers will promote the quality of life we find so attractive in Novato today. |
