1. How would you implement your top priority?

Answer from Duncan G. Caldwell:

The expanding of parks will be a two-fold process, 1st allocating the moneys needed in the city budget, then buying the land. We have an excellant staff in our parks and recreation, so by listening to these people on their needs we will have a complete picture to the future in Blue Ash. Our bike paths/sidewalks are in a great need of repair or they are nonexsistant, this creates a safety issue for our children, seniors and mothers/fathers with strollers. We cannot point the finger at others when our large projects go over budget,ie. the firehouse, all of council must take the blame.

Answer from Raymond MacNab:

Blue Ash, like most communities, is being impacted by a slow economy. The earnings tax is down because of businesses downs or being forced out of business. The city will renew its focus on marketing the attributes of our community to attract new business and reduce the amount of office space. This will in turn boost our earnings tax and allow the city the resources to address various isssues.

Answer from Henry S. Stacey:

The City of Blue Ash continues to provide outstanding recreational opportunities to its residents in a well planned, fiscally responsible manner. Council continues to seek and incorporate the input of the residents in current and future plans. I would continue to work with the city administration to see that Blue Ash provides outstanding recreational services to the residents by maintaining our current parks and services and continuously look for new opportunities.

2. Numerous important issues including transportation, land use planning, housing and economic development for the Greater Hamilton County regions are being deliberated by OKI's Land Use Commission and Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission and Planning Partnership COMPASS; how engaged should local government be in these planning activities? If elected, how would you participate in these planning activities?

Answer from Raymond MacNab:

The City of Blue Ash is currently supporting OKI. A member of our city council sits on the board.

Answer from Henry S. Stacey:

I currently attend meetings for the County Regional Planning Partnership COMPASS and have been committed to the role Blue Ash plays as one community in the overall region. Communites in the County and in the Greater Cincinnati region need to stay current in areas like transportation, waste water treatment, storm water drainage, and area wide economic development. I will see that Blue Ash is a full participant in these areas.

Answer from Duncan G. Caldwell:

We have many buisnesses in Blue Ash that use hourly employees,we have many seniors, there is a lack of mass transit availible for these people and others, so we need to stay connected with the big picture of how we can connect with the whole transit program. I would attend meetings seave on boards and imput how this will help all of us.

3. Ohio Department of Natural Resources in partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the National Recycling Coalition conducted a state-specific study and found recycling businesses in Ohio generated $650.6 million dollars in state government revenue. If elected how would you promote recycling and support recycling programs currently in place in your community to reduce solid waste generation?

Answer from Duncan G. Caldwell:

We have curbside recycling for residential, the sad part is the Sycamore schools do not recycle, here we could have a tremendous impact, by doing what we teach!

Answer from Raymond MacNab:

The City of Blue Ash is and has been heavily involved and supports the recycling programs.

Answer from Henry S. Stacey:

I would see that Blue Ash continue to promote the recycling process as we currently do with our waste management contract.
